Update Cadence

CHPChecked about once per minute.
WildWebChecked independently about once every two minutes. Reports older than the configured collection window are archived.
Active incident detailsUnchanged active incidents are refreshed about every 3 minutes.
Air temperatureChecked about every 15 minutes while the temperature layer is enabled and the page is visible. Also checked when you return to the tab or reconnect. Weather responses may be reused for up to 15 minutes; station observation times and forecast validity times can be earlier than the check time.
Road-weather forecasts and NWS alertsChecked together about every 15 minutes while the road-weather layer is enabled and the page is visible. Also checked when you return to the tab or reconnect. Responses may be reused for up to 15 minutes. Forecasts cover the next six hours.
Status meaningCHP records use Active and Cleared. WildWeb records say Reported unless the source explicitly provides Contained, Controlled, or Out. No longer listed and Archived do not mean Crestmap independently confirmed the incident is over. Map badges use red for active, amber for reported, and gray for cleared or archived; the pictograph shows the incident type.
HistoryCleared and archived records stay in the database and are shown when they fall inside the selected time window.

Push Notifications

Crestmap can notify you when it discovers a new matching incident. CHP alerts are selected by default; WildWeb reports are a separate opt-in because the two sources can describe the same incident. Choose sources, areas, and incident categories in Alerts.

Crest + west forestIncludes Angeles Crest, Angeles Forest, Big Tujunga, and Mount Wilson/Red Box incidents. It excludes San Gabriel Canyon, Glendora Mountain/Ridge, Mount Baldy, and San Antonio Canyon incidents.
iPhone and iPadOpen Crestmap in Safari. With Compact tabs, tap More (…) then Share; with Bottom or Top tabs, tap Share directly. Scroll down and choose Add to Home Screen. If it is missing, scroll to the bottom, open Edit Actions, and add it. Turn on Open as Web App, tap Add, then launch Crestmap from the new icon. Open Alerts from the menu and approve the notification prompt.
PrivacyA browser-generated push endpoint and your choices are stored. No email address, phone number, or account is required. Turning alerts off deactivates that device subscription.
DeliveryNotifications are sent only for newly discovered incidents after you subscribe. Delivery can be delayed or suppressed by Focus, Low Power settings, connectivity, or browser notification settings.
